State reports find rays of sunshine in current economic gloom

There was more bad news — and a glimmer or two of good — in two economic reports issued by state agencies recently.
The April issue of Wyoming Insight, published online by the State of Wyoming’s Economic Analysis Division, found that while sales and use taxes continued to lag in 19 out of 23 counties and residential building permits were also in decline across the state, prices for the state’s natural gas and crude oil continued a rebound that began in February and that drilling permits were also inching back up this spring compared to 2015 levels. Insight serves as an energy index and business indicator report for the state.
