We are located at the junction of Highway 16 & 116 along Wyoming's Scenic Bi-way, just 20 minutes from I-90. Stop in and enjoy our beautiful City Park, visit historic Old Town, hit the links at Cedar Pines Golf Course, or grab a bite at one of our local eateries.

"Welcome to our hometown! Growing up in a small town  has its advantages: caring neighbors who come together in times of need; freedom to hunt, fish, go for a walk or ride your motorcycle just outside of town; sunshine and beautiful vistas; a job located where you can run home for lunch. We appreciate those advantages as well as great schools, churches and recreation facilities.

Upton was nicknamed “The Best Town on Earth” back in the early 1900’s by Frank Burdick, the local railroad station manager. A little sign was installed along the railway where passenger trains travelled every day. Since that time, all the signs at the entrance to Upton have carried the same slogan. We live here by choice and we work together to help Upton grow and improve each year.

Upton is located between Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone Park, so stop by sometime, have a good homemade meal, spend the night.  Drive a loop tour of the countryside and learn the history. Breathe the fresh air. Live a little!"

Weston County School District #7 has a long history in Upton from when the first Upton School opened in 1909. In History of Weston County it was reported that the school house burned down in November of 1920 and was rebuilt in 1921. The school records only go back to that time.

Weston County School District currently has a student population of two hundred sixty in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. They employ approximately one hundred two full and part-time staff over the course of the school year.

The Upton Elementary/Middle School is located at 802 Juniper Street and serves Kindergarten through eighth grade. This building was constructed in 1992 and contains classrooms, special education rooms, a library, computer lab, gymnasium, and Boal Auditorium named for longtime teacher, coach and administrator, LaVerne C. Boal. 307/468-9331.

The Upton High School is located at 610 Poplar Street and serves students in grades nine through twelve with classrooms, library, computer lab and gymnasium. Also on the property is the Rainbolt Building which is the welding shop; and “Tead Weaver” Field: track/football field with bleachers built into the side of a hill, a concession stand, and lights for night football games named in honor of another longtime teacher, coach, and principal. 307/468-2361.

The L.W. Nelson Building was built in 1975, and began as an elementary school housing Upton’s first Kindergarten class along with grades one through four. It is currently used for administration, technology and community education offices, elementary and middle school music classes, an exercise room, and a board meeting room. The building was named in honor of Lloyd W. Nelson, longtime teacher, coach, and superintendent. It is located at 804 Willow Street. 307/468-2461.

Weston County School District #7 has a mailing address of PO Box 470, Upton, WY 82730, and is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Upton Economic Development Board (UEDB) Grants are awarded quarterlyon a competitive basis, based on funds available.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a partnership between the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council, and the U.S. Small Business Administration offering business expertise and technical assistance to help you start, grow, reinvent, or exit your business. As a member of the Wyoming’s Business Resource Network, we’ll make sure you get connected with the resources you need to succeed.

Wyoming Works provides programs and resources for adult students to learn a skill and secure employment. The program makes available individual grants for students enrolling in approved programs at a Wyoming community college. It also provides a mechanism for colleges to apply for resources in support of the creation of high-demand programs.

The creation of the Wyoming Business Council in 1998 dramatically changed Wyoming's approach to economic development. Unlike the state's previous economic development efforts, this organization has a more corporate structure, incorporates private business practices in order to drive programs and has established regional offices throughout the state to better serve clients.

The state of Wyoming created the Wyoming Business Council to focus public and private efforts to build a strong job creation base in the new economy with manufacturing and technology as core competencies while strengthening the existing business and industry groups under alternative energy, agriculture, manufacturing, high tech, transportation and logistics.

To provide leadership in conserving the natural resources in the Weston County Natural Resource District by providing information, education and technical assistance to meet the needs of the users.
