Black Hills State University is a comprehensive regional public university located in Spearfish, northern Black Hills, South Dakota. We are a small campus that offers a personalized approach to education and where students are well-known and supported by their faculty.

Located in Casper, Wyoming, the campus consists of 28 buildings on more than 200 acres. The grounds are distinctive, with terraces that surround the modern buildings. Casper provides students with a big city feel without the big city hassles. Casper College is one of the largest and most comprehensive community colleges in the region. Founded in 1948 in Torrington, Wyoming, located in Goshen County, Eastern Wyoming College today serves almost 1937 students in credit courses and over 5912 students in non-credit activities. The College sponsors outreach programs in Converse, Crook, Niobrara, Platte, and Weston counties.

Gillette College is a two-year community college in Gillette, Wyoming. The college is operated by the Northern Wyoming Community College District. The college offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, as well as certificate and applied science programs that prepare students for skilled trades such as welding and industrial electricity.

Laramie County Community College (LCCC) started in 1968 as a full-service, comprehensive community college. The college moved to its current location in November 1969 after having offices and classrooms in several locations in downtown Cheyenne and in other parts of the city. LCCC now have campuses in Cheyenne and Laramie and an outreach center in Pine Bluffs. LCCC continues to grow to meet the needs of the students and community.

Sheridan College is a public community college in Sheridan, Wyoming. It is part of the Northern Wyoming Community College District. It offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science degrees, certificate programs, and program tracks that prepare students to transfer to a four-year college or university. In addition, students may elect to enroll in career training, professional development courses, or vocational/technical programs.

WCSD#7 is truly the center of the community!

• The district emphasizes a Personalized Learning Model of Instruction to meet the needs of all students, supported with a low student-teacher ratio.
• Upton High School provides Career and Technical Education Tracks in Industrial Technology (Woods & Welding), Family and Consumer Science, Agriculture, and Health Careers.
• College accredited courses are available to freshman through senior high school students.
• Graduates include attendees of the United States Military Academy at West Point, the University of Notre Dame, and a University of Wyoming Trustees Scholar.
• WCSD#7 is the recipient of $875,000 in grant money to establish a 21st Century Community Learning Center program for students Pre-K through 5th grade, and for after school programming.

Beyond academics and career development, WCSD#7 offers many extra-curricular activities for students including statewide robotics competitions, and the Future Business Leaders of America, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, and Future Farmers of America clubs.  

The district has highly competitive sports programming that brings Uptonites out to support the athletes for in-town and out-of-town competitions.  They cheered on the Boys Basketball Team for the Class 1A State Championships, which they won in 2021 and 2022; and rallied behind the Girls Basketball Team, which were Runners-Up in 2021 and 2022; while the Boys Track Team Placed 3rd at State 1A in 2021.

Gillette College added to the growing number of maker spaces when it opened the Center for Innovation and Fabrication, also known as Area 59, in 2018.  Area 59 serves Gillette College Science, Technology, Engineering and Math students and the community at large.

The 91,000 sq. ft. Technical Education Center (or “TEC” for short) houses the Gillette College technical programs — Mining, Machine Tool, Diesel, Welding, Industrial Electricity, Industrial Technology, and Engineering.

TEC is an integral part of training the workforce of today and tomorrow. It incorporates a high-bay diesel lab with bridge and jib cranes, a welding lab, three industrial electronics labs, a high-voltage lab, a “sandbox” for vehicle and safety training, and a manual and computerized machine tool shop. Students and local industry workers are able to learn their trades using commercial standard equipment.
