Red Onion Museum opened in October of 1996 and recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary.
Red Onion Museum holds Good Old Days once a month except December. Mrs. Darrow’s fourth grade class has been studying local history at the museum this school year. Red Onion Museum has access to twenty-two history trunks through the museum district. Currently, the Colonial History Trunk is being borrowed by Upton Elementary. They have two employees who give personal tours when you stop into see them, and delight in sharing the rich history of the Upton area.
Red Onion Museum is participating in the Festival of Trees on Friday, December 2, at the Newcastle Senior Center. The event is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and is a fund raiser for worthy causes. Red Onion Museum will receive one third of the amount raised to go toward the museums mortgage. If you would like to see your hometown museum continue please attend.
Red Onion Museum is located at 729 Birch St. and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
