Award-winning Upton poet Nicholas Trandahl was recently accepted for publication in the 2022 issue of the yearly literary and outdoors journal Deep Wild: Writing from the Backcountry. His poem “Drinking Tea on Black Elk Peak” was accepted for publication in that upcoming issue of the journal. Trandahl’s poem touches upon his solo hike up Black Elk Peak, highest mountain east of the Rockies, and his musings on Lakota spirituality and the Black Hills when he was on the summit.

Deep Wild 2022 will go to press in June and be available for purchase this summer from deepwildjournal.com.

Trandahl is the author of three books of poetry, Pulling Words, Think of Me, and Bravery, and a novel, Good Brave People. His next collection of poetry, Empyrean, is forthcoming. He was the recipient of the 2019 Wyoming Writers Milestone Award and has been nominated for the 2021 Pushcart Prize.
